1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a text file placed in a dedicated area of your terminal’s hard drive (computer, tablet, mobile phone or any other internet-optimised device) when you view online content or advertising. This cookie file can only be read by its issuer. During its validity period, it allows its issuer to recognise the terminal in question each time this terminal accesses digital content comprising cookies from the same issuer. A cookie does not identify you personally, but only your terminal’s browser.
2. Types of cookies
There are different types of cookies:
• so-called “session” cookies, which are erased when you close your browser or the website,
• so-called “persistent” cookies, which remain on your terminal until they expire or until you delete them using your browser's functions. Nevertheless, cookies are anonymous and are never used to collect personal data.
Functionality cookies are designed to adapt our websites to your terminal’s display preferences (language, currency, screen resolution, operating system used, display configuration and settings for website pages depending on the terminal you are using and its location, etc.), to store certain information that you enter on our websites for the purpose of facilitating and personalising your future browsing experience (for example, displaying your name if you have a user account and you have identified yourself) and to allow you to access your personal areas more quickly by storing logins or data that you have previously provided.
The purpose of tracking cookies is to improve your browsing experience by helping us to understand your interactions with our websites (most visited pages, applications used, etc.); these cookies may enable statistics to be compiled, or even different views to be tested, with the aim of improving the value and usability of our services.
When visiting our website, advertising cookies will be placed on your computer, in order to understand your interests. Our advertising partners may then allow us to show you re-targeting adverts for other websites based on your online activities on our website. The techniques used by our partners do not allow personal data, such as your name, e-mail address, postal address or telephone number, to be collected.
4. Disabling cookies
You have the option of accepting or rejecting cookies for all the websites that you visit by amending your web browser's settings. Every browser's configuration is different. Its configuration is described in your browser's help menu, which will allow you to find out how to amend your cookie preferences.
